A visit to Rainforestation Nature Park is a rewarding, informative and entertaining “hands-on” educational experience for groups and students of all ages and nationalities. Rainforestation promotes awareness and appreciation for Australian Culture, Wildlife and our precious Rainforests.
A range of unique activities are available for groups and students:

 
  • Army Duck informative tours of the rainforest via land and water with qualified guides
  • Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience including a Dreamtime walk, Boomerang and Spear throwing
  • Didgeridoo playing and a traditional Aboriginal Dance performance
  • Koala and Wildlife Park educational guided tours
  • Tropical Fruit Orchard – touch and taste exotic fruits from the Tropical North
  • Rainforestation can provide fantastic educational, enjoyable and environmentally friendly activities for all types of pre-booked groups. The Koala & Wildlife Park offers educational programmes promoting awareness of conservation issues and appreciation of our native wildlife and environment. We also offer exclusive activities for educational groups, such as tree planting, boomerang and aboriginal canvas painting, face painting, behind-the-scenes wildlife tours, and sugar cane tasting (seasonal). Our educational programmes include specially designed worksheets for primary school through to high school with content and activities closely linked to curriculum outcomes. Itineraries to suit your specialised needs can be arranged upon request.

    The curriculum is available at a number of levels and will soon include worksheets suitable for students where English is a second language. Your students will receive constant supervision and guidance from our attentive, friendly, experienced staff. Upon completion of the program participants receive an attractive certificate of achievement.

    RAINFOREST RAVE – Army Duck Tour

    Discover the secrets of the rainforest in an amphibious Army Duck! Informative “Duck” Drivers share their valuable knowledge and sense of humour during a tour through the rainforest.Worksheets are available for this tour in 3 levels. Duration: 45 Mins

    DREAMTIME DISCOVERY – Pamagirri experience

    Join your Pamagirri guide on a Dreamtime Walk and learn how to throw a boomerang; play the didgeridoo and watch a spear throwing demonstration. Then enjoy a traditional Aboriginal dance performance in the rainforest amphitheatre.Worksheets are available in 3 levels.Duration:30 mins Show 30 mins Dreamtime Walk

    WILDLIFE ENCOUNTER – Wildlife Park Tour

    Learn all about our native Australian animals in an interactive tour of the Wildlife Park with a friendly Wildlife Keeper. Hand feed the kangaroos; touch a snake or a lizard; watch the Barramundi feeding. *Cuddle a Koala with 5x7 photo*Optional extra Worksheets are available in 3 levels Allow at least 40 mins

       Tree Planting

    A fun and rewarding way for students to learn about forest conservation. Each student is presented with a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative plaque for each school is placed on our Honour Board. Revenue from Rainforestation’s Tree Planting is contributed to Enviro Care

    Enjoy a group lesson with Pama Artist to learn painting techniques, story telling and traditions Each student will add their own aboriginal dot-style design to the canvas. Pamagirri Artist will "touch-up" and complete the canvas. Canvas will be packaged and posted to school as a "gift" and unique memory of your school’s trip. Allow 1 hr

      Tropical Fruit      Tasting

    Wander through the Tropical Fruit Orchard – Taste a selection of exotic fruit. Learn about Australia’s second largest export crop – Sugar Cane; and taste the raw cane before its journey to the mill. (Sugar Cane tasting is seasonal, June-December)

               Eco     Sustainability          Tour

    You can normally find Chris Grantham, General Manager at Rainforestation Nature Park since 1997 checking in on his attractions all throughout the day. Ask Chris to take you on a Behind The Scenes look at the eco-efficient initiatives in place at Rainforestation including our vermiculture (worm farm), waste management processes, army duck fuel conversion and desert cubes to name a few.

    The Behind The Scenes Tour with Wildlife Guide is available for Pre-booked Groups. Our Keepers are available from 14:00 for the 45 minute tour.
    A Day in the Life of a Wildlife Keeper includes a 5 min welcome and presentation of the following:
    * Explain medical treatment / vet visits / injured animal care
    * Visit the Food Preparation Room and Quarantine Area
    * Prepare leaf for koalas and enter enclosure at feeding time
    * Perform wildlife keeper duties with a Wildlife Guide
    * Snake feeding, lizard feeding, roo enclosure cleaning
    * Enclosed footwear is essential
    * Certificate of Participation presented at end of tour
