Set on 100 acres of World Heritage Rainforest, this unique tourist attraction is situated five minutes travel from Kuranda Village, and half an hour by Coach from Cairns in Tropical North Queensland, Australia.

This eco-friendly Kuranda attraction hosts Army Duck Rainforest Tours (with Tropical Fruit Orchard), Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience and Kuranda's largest Koala & Wildlife Park.
With shuttle-buses available for the short transfer to Australia's "Village in the Rainforest", you are able to visit the Kuranda market, and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, and we can tailor Cairns Day Tours to include the iconic Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, and Kuranda Scenic Railway.

The Amphitheatre's natural setting provides a beautiful backdrop for The Pamagirri Corroboree; a traditional dance performance depicting aspects of indigenous culture including animals, food gathering and hunting. The rainforest serves as the theatre walls whilst sounds of wildlife provide accompaniment to the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo and clapsticks.
Then take guided tour along an all weather walk-way modelled on the Rainbow Serpent gives you fascinating insight into aspects of aboriginal culture. Try your hand at boomerang throwing - after a demonstration and a few lessons, you’ll be ready to test your skills with this ancient aboriginal implement.
Observe spear-throwing - you'll be amazed at the distance the Pamagirri Guides can throw spears using a Woomera, and then in the midst of traditional aboriginal dwellings, hear your Pamagirri Guide play the didgeridoo, an ancient instrument. Listen carefully for sounds imitating Kangaroos or the Kookaburra.

Experience the tropical rainforest from a totally unique perspective – aboard an Amphibious World War II Army Duck. Your knowledgeable Duck Captain identifies  fascinating plants and wildlife as you pass by, before splashing into the lake for a cruise, with plenty more wildlife to be seen.  The eleven vintage Army Ducks are 6-wheel drive and seat 30.The Army Duck Tour also includes a tour of the Tropical Fruit Orchard. There are over 40 different varieties of exotic tropical fruit trees on display. An ideal opportunity to touch and taste the exotic fruits of Tropical North Queensland, and from around the world. 

Experience another facet of Australia and wander at your leisure or join a guided group through our Koala and Wildlife Park with our experienced Wildlife Keepers.
A series of elevated boardwalks provide close-up uninterrupted views of the Australian animals and reptiles, including species such as: Koala, Kangaroo, Wallaby, Wombat, Salt water (Estruine) Crocodile, Fresh water Crocodile
Turtle, Snake, Lizard, Frog, Dingo, Cassowary, and Tiger Quoll
Handfeed the free roaming kangaroos and wallabies in the landscaped gardens, observe the carnivorous tiger quoll, and the endangered cassowary, see wombats and lace monitors, and view local snakes and other reptiles.

Rainforestation History

1974 – Locals Charles and Pip Woodward purchase the property as an orange orchard, named Mountain Groves.

1976 – The park is officially opened as a tourist attraction, with amphibious Army Duck tours and the Colonial Restaurant.

1988 – Boomerang throwing commences, introducing aspects of Aboriginal culture to the Rainforestation experience.

1993 – The Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience launches with the introduction of the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dance Troupe and Dreamtime Walk.

1996 – Rainforestation celebrates its 20th Birthday with the opening of the new Koala & Wildlife Park - the 5 metre crocodile Jack is flown in from Darwin on a Qantas jet!

2001 – Tropical Fruit Orchard opens.

2003 – A new Koala Experience opens, enhancing the opportunity for visitors to have their photo taken cuddling a koala.
